Doreen's School of Dancing is the longest running dancing school in Leighton Buzzard and was established in 1955 by founder Doreen Rolls. Doreen first started dancing as a small child which included Tap, Ballet and Modern. Dancing soon became her passion with her taking many exams and fianlly led to her gaining her teaching qualification under the guidance of Madame Veena Turner of Criclewood through the Association of American Dancing. This finally led her to open her own school at the age of 18. The dancing school grew very quickly, becoming very popular in the town and making it the dance school it is today.
The school is now run by her daughter Alison Taylor Principal and supported by Anne Bryans Assistant Principal. Alison is moving the school forward with the same drive and passion Doreen always had and new pupils are always welcome. We are always pleased to welcome back former pupils.
The School puts on a yearly dance show which we always do for charity and over the past 60 yrs have raised thousands of pounds for mostly local charity's which is something we are very proud of. We have danced at the Milton Keynes Theatre twice and the Grove Theatre in Dunstable in our recent years which was a fantastic experience for all those involved. We celebrated the schools 60th Birthday in 2015.
We take medal and grade exams each year gaining good results and for those pupils who take up dance as a GSCE subject they can use these exams to count towards their GCSE results.
